1920s Framed Portrait of A Women in a Coral Opera Coat by Irwin Myers- 25x29”
Truly stunning and restored, 1920s portrait of a woman named Peggy O’Brien by American artist, Irwin Myers. Oil on canvas. This piece is in its original frame with a placard that reads both of their names. Frame matches the rich, dark and vibrant colors of the painting just beautifully. The painting itself is very well done with a beautiful use of color, particularly the coral, burgundy and red tones of her coat, and the deep emerald and amethyst purple in the backdrop. Her face is gentle and docile and her features are very well done as well. I love the heavy varnish and gloss that comes through and reflects off of the textured paint, tho that was challenging to capture in the photographs.
This piece has been relined and restretched annd cleaned and presents good as new. Liner stretches around the original stretcher. Purchased from an estate who was family friends with Mrs. Peggy O’Brien.
